WinRar 5.20 64 bit
Winrar is a best file archiver utility for Windows. It can create archives in RAR or ZIP file formats, and unpack large archive file formats.
WinRAR 5.20 New Features -
1 - Instead of using Windows Registry to store your WinRAR settings it now uses the WinRAR.ini file instead. This is extremely useful when you want to install WinRAR on USB removable media, such as a flash drive, enabling you to run WinRAR on different computers.
4 - As with all Winrar updates, version 5.20 also provides further improvements for increased usability and compatibility: it is now better integrated with Windows User Account Control (UAC), and to ensure enhanced compatibility with other archiving formats, extraction support for ZIP and ZIPX archives using the XZ compression algorithm has also been added.
2. You can now drag files in Explorer with the right mouse button, drop them into a folder and to select the WinRAR archiving commands in the context menu to create an archive with these files in the destination folder.
See the "WinRAR.ini file" topic in the "Configuration settings" chapter of WinRAR Help for details.
4. Added extraction support for ZIP and ZIPX archives using their XZ compression algorithm.
5. If ZIP or ZIPX archives contain any compression algorithms apart from the usual "Store" or "Deflate", algorithm names are displayed in the "Version to extract" field of the archive information dialog.
Algorithms with names unknown to WinRAR will be assigned an "m" name, where "num" is a compression algorithm numeric identifier.
6. The "Open with WinRAR" command is now available in Windows context menus for archive formats supported by WinRAR. It can be turned off with "Open with WinRAR (for usual archives)" option in the WinRAR "Settings, Integration, Context menu items..." dialog.
7. the "Select all" button in the "Settings, Integration" dialog has been renamed to "Toggle all". It now deselects archive formats if all they have already been selected.
8. The "Delete archive" extraction option now correctly removes all .zip and .7z volumes. Previously it removed only the first volume in each set for these archive formats.
Common Features in all Winrar versions -
- Packing (creation) of RAR or ZIP archives.
- Unpacking of ACE, ARJ, BZIP2, CAB, EXE, GZ, ISO, JAR, LHA, RAR, TAR, UUE, XZ, Z, ZIP, ZIPX, 7z, 001 (split) archives.
- Checksum (integrity) verification for ACE, ARJ, BZIP2, CAB, GZ, BZIP2, RAR, XZ, ZIP and 7z archives.
- Multithreaded CPU compression and decompression.
- When creating RAR archives:
- Support for maximum file size of 16 EiB (264 bytes) minus 1.
- Compression dictionary from 1 MiB to 1 GiB (limited to 256 MiB on 32-bit Windows, however 32-bit Windows still can decompress archives with 1 GiB dictionary). Default size is 32 MiB.
- Optional 256-bit BLAKE2 file hash can replace default 32-bit CRC32 file checksum.
- Optional encryption using AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) with a 256-bit key.
- Optional data redundancy is provided in the form of Reed-Solomon recovery records and recovery volumes, allowing reconstruction of damaged archives (including reconstruction of entirely missed volumes).
- Optional "Quick Open Record" to open RAR files faster.
- Ability to create multi-volume (split) archives.
- Ability to create self-extracting files. The self-extractor can execute commands, such as running a specified program automatically after self-extraction.
- Support for advanced NTFS file system options, such as NTFS hard and symbolic links.
- Support for maximum path length up to 2048 characters (stored in the UTF-8 format).
- Optional archive comment (stored in the UTF-8 format).
- Optional file time stamp preservation: creation, last access, high precision modification times.
